Four Paws Up for Movie Defiance

This weekend we rented three movies – two mindless chic flicks He’s Just Not That Into You and Confessions of a Shopaholic and one worthy film, Defiance. If you haven’t seen the first two movies, we recommend you wait until  they air on cable TV. It’s not worth spending the money on rental fees.

He’s Just Not That Into You is typical of all those other movies about human dating and people relationships, attempting to offer human women insight into what human men really think about romance. All the 20 and 30 something characters are beautiful and live in wonderful homes in Baltimore, Maryland. Now, we have never been to Baltimore, but have heard from other cats that it’s pretty cool. But, anyway, how many people in their 20s and 30s can afford fabulous loft condos and newly renovated townhouses in today’s market? We may be cats, but, we watch CNBC sometimes and know what’s going on financially. The lifestyles of these young humans were unbelieveable and the story line was so predictable. You knew from the beginning which characters would hook up and which couples would split up.

Poor Jennifer Aniston continues to get type cast. She plays the same character similar to those in the last five movies she made. This film really needed some serious feline help. A few cute cats would have made the movie more interesting and bearable.

Confessions of a Shopaholic – well, we won’t waste our paw taps on the keyboard for this one. Let’s move onto the really good movie – Defiance.

Brilliant! An incrediblly well written screenplay about the true story of 1,200 Jews who survive in a Belorussian forest in World War II. This movie is well directed and the cast is perfect. We enjoy stories about resilience. And, our Mommy likes WW II stories – as well as Daniel Craig who played the lead character Tuvia. The good thing about renting the DVD is that it includes all these cool mini-features about the real characters and their families; how the movie was made; and the survivors still living today. And, with any DVD, the all time best feature is the “pause” button so Mommy can get us snacks.

We give four paws up for Defiance.
